Craft project!!

So, I saw this fabric wreath on Pinterest and KNEW I wanted to make this for myself, in a Halloween theme.  So, I dragged the  hubby along to JoAnn's to find some fabric to make this DIY wreath.  Here's what I got :

  • 1/2 yard of FOUR different fabrics (or however much you choose) for a total of 2 yards
  • 18" wreath ( we have a large door)
  • pair of fabric scissors
  • Wood letter to spell BOO
  • Frankenstein green pain

So, I measured out the fabric into about 1 inch X 6 inch stripes and tied them around the wire wreath.  Now, as I got towards the end of crafting my wreath, I noticed I didn't have enough fabric to finish. =/ FAIL on my part.  So, one afternoon my WONDERFUL hubby made a trip BACK to JoAnn's and came home with 2 yards of EACH fabric... so I have some extra. =D

Now, this project was pretty easy to do.  But I'm not going to lie... cutting out and tying those little strips was a pain in the butt. Pulling on the fabric totally gave me two blisters on my middle fingers (one on each hand).  But on the pulse side, this is a craft you can do while watching t.v./movie/NETFLIX (I've watched almost every season of Law and Order: SVU, but not all while I was working on this, it doesn't take that long!)
Supplies I got from JoAnn's Fabric
Wreath with two rows finished
Wreath finished (without letters on)

Now I have a craft to make for Christmas presents with all the extra fabric! =]  The possibilities with this fabric wreath is AWESOME! You can make one for any occasion.  I'm honestly thinking about selling these little gems. =]  I saw online wreath like this sell for $70+ dollars.  I'd probably sell them in the range of $35 to $50, depending on the size and type.

Holy Crap. It's SEPTEMBER!

I can't believe how fast 2012 is going.  It's already SEPTEMBER.  FALL IS COMING!! =D  I LOVE Fall.  Fall means football, scarves, boots, chili, decorations... eeeee I'm so excited.

To me, September is the start of my "holiday" season.  I have SEVERAL birthdays between here and Christmas (including my own) and now that we live away from our family there is going to have to be some planning involved this year so the hubby and I will be able to see everyone! I've even started planning out my handmade gifts for everyone this Christmas.  I tend to procrastinate, so the sooner I plan stuff out, the more likely I am to ACTUALLY do them.

I also am a firm believer in holiday decorations.  The earlier the better.  I mean what's the point of all your work if you only get to enjoy it for two weeks before you have to pack it all up and put it away.  I usually decorate for Halloween in the 3rd week of September and my Christmas decorations go up in early November.

Oh, and Happy Labor Day!

Bonus Points at Ulta!!

So after checking my email yesterday I saw that Ulta was giving a bonus 400 points in their reward program (that's like $12.00!!) when you spend $80. Challenge accepted!
Here's what I ended up getting:

  • Nivea A Kiss of Flavor Strawberry Tinted Lip Care

I love NYX cosmetics.  I would consider them to be "drug store" even though I can only find them at Ulta (or their website).  They are EXTREMELY well priced and they are cruelty free.  They have a TON of products to choose from.  I was just in the market for blushes and lip glosses.

Puppies!!

So the hubby and I have been debating about whether or not we should get a puppy. I've never had dog (rather traumatic for a child, I know), but Chris has. We have two cats now, Hera and Abu.

This is Hera... She's a Diva.

This is Abu... He's a snuggler.

Anyways, while driving around we came across a puppy palace. OMG. There was so much cuteness I didn't know what to do with myself.

 This is a Shiba Inu.

This is a Puggle (Pug/beagle mixed).

I'm hoping I can convince him to get me a puppy for Christmas or my Birthday!! You know, wrapped in a bow! =]

Isaac is coming...

So, Hurricane/Tropical Storm Isaac is on it's way to Florida.  This storm totally ruined my weekend. =/ It is slightly annoying.  I was supposed to get my hair cut.  My hair is in some desperate need of attention. Oh, well, maybe next weekend.

Anyways, the hubby and I went to Target to get some supplies JUST in case we lose power or get flooded or something bad happens... Our supplies included water, cat food, and a bag of the red starburst, you know, the essentials. =] Oh, well we also got some candles.  So, I think we are pretty prepared for this MASSIVE storm that seems to be heading our way.  <<hinting at the sarcasm>>

On our way to our Target adventure, the hubby realized that his car was on E.  And since Isaac is on his way, most of the gas stations were our of gas.  It was a tense ten minutes before we found a gas station that actually had gas.

That was our excited day!

Fun in the sun =]

Well, today was the first day that wasn't focused on the new place.  My mom and I went to explore Ft. Myers Beach.  It was a nice, HOT day at the beach and I came away with a little sun burn... BUT this will turn into a great tan!  A "gulf" beach is so different then an "ocean" beach.  The sand is different, the water is different...

The only bummer is... I CANNOT find my after sun lotion!! =O It is packed away somewhere in boxland. =/ lame.  There was a family on vacation sitting kinda close to us at the beach today and hearing some of their conversations were pretty funny.  The son brought his (or another member of the family's) cell phone into the water (where is got wet... DUH!) and proceeded to ask him mom for some rice to let it dry in...?? Like to totally excepted his mom to have a random bag of rice at the beach.  Also, the daughters didn't know the name of "some surfing clothing company", where I was like "Roxy, Quicksilver, Billabong, Hurley..."

After the beach, Mom and I came back home and fell asleep.  A day in the sun ALWAYS drains all the energy out of me.  After awaking up on the couch, I realize that I need to finish unpacking my closet... =/  I didn't realize how much CRAP the movers packed that I told them not to... Fail.

I also need to find a way to organize all my OPI nail polishes. So I need some pointers =]

That is all for now!

Random Tidbits
  • I finally unpacked my Wii today, so I can hook up my Netflix! YAY
  • I am really excited to the Real Housewives of Orange County Reunion show tomorrow =]

Holy CRAP!

HOLY CRAP! This week has been INSANE!  The hubby and I have officially moved to the west coast of FL.  My sense of direction is so thrown off (My "east" is now my "west" and I'm so confused).  However, I can find my way to the Bell Tower and Coconut Point malls, so I think I'll be okay! =D

Anyways, on to our biggest change... OUR NEW PLACE!! AHH It's so exciting.  Chris and I have been together for over 6 years now, married for a little over a year, and for all that time we never really lived alone.  It's exciting to have a place that is just for the two of us to do what we want in and just be.  We are renting a 3br 2 1/2 bath townhouse.  (I get my daily workout running up and down stairs a million times a day.)  Our first night here was on Thursday, with the moving truck coming Friday morning, so it has been organize/putting away nonstop since about 9:30 am Friday.  We have actually gotten A LOT accomplished.  Our kitchen (except we need a trash can and maybe a few more decorative thingys) is completely unpacked, cleaned, and put away.  And we put together our new family room!

Before...

After...

I have to say, I think our family room looks really good after 48 hours!  Chris and I have been looking for a rug to put under the coffee table to break up the tile downstairs.

I will most definitively add more pictures as rooms are organized enough so I'm not embarrassed. =]  I am covered in bruises and my body is sore from moving/unloading boxes.  But I want all the boxes emptied out so I can break them down and have more space to move around.

Night Y'all!

Oh the joys of packing... =/

So, the movers were supposed to come to the house today to pack up all our things and put them in the  moving van... truck... whatever.  BUT they now moved it to tomorrow.  On the plus side of this it gives me an extra day to gather our things and the items I'll need for the couple days we are still in Melbourne.  I've never had professional movers move my stuff, so I don't quite know what to expect.  And they are also coming WAY to early in the morning ( I am NOT a morning person).

Yesterday, Chris and I went our to Ulta because they are having a great sale on select liter shampoo and conditioner.  I was so UNHAPPY with my current Joico shampoo and conditioner, that I couldn't even finish the bottles. Yuck.  I would come out of the shower with my hair feeling like straw.  So, in a search for some new hair products I decided on Healthy Sexy Hair.

I have the Healthy Sexy Hair leave-in conditioner and I LOVE it.  I've only used the shampoo and conditioner once but it was already 10x better than that Joico stuff, so I'm not complaining.

Well, I must return to numbering my shoe boxes so I know if one gets stolen! (I have my priorities in order!)  Hope everyone has a happy and safe Independence Day!

Random Tidbits

  • Had my last laser hair removal treatment today.  I still feel burning in my underarms. Lame.
  • Today is my grandma's 81st birthday!  We went to dinner (that wasn't that yummy =/ ).
  • Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory closed down in Waterford Lakes... I didn't get my Avalanche caramel apple. =/

Moving!!!

Well, I have started a different blog because I can! =]  Things in my life are about to change dramatically and so I wanted to start fresh with this blog.  I will also TRY to keep up with it this time since Chris and I will be in one place for more than a couple of weeks!

That's right! Chris FINALLY got his permanent location/promotion and we couldn't be more excited.  We are moving in about a week (give or take) to the Ft. Myers area.  We just got word that we got the townhouse we both like and the movers are coming to look at everything on Saturday.  After that I'm sure we will know more of what's going on.  We've had our stuff in storage for so long now it is going to be like Christmas in July packing everything.

It is kinda bittersweet to be moving.  While I am excited to be going on this adventure with Chris, I have lived in Melbourne my whole life...
