Casual Impressions by Kennedy Layne

Book Description

In this electrifying novel from USA Today Bestselling Author Kennedy Layne, the Safeguard team is coming ever closer to catching an elusive serial killer who might very well be hunting one of their own…

Sawyer Madison has spent the last few months hunting down a sadistic killer. He and his team don’t seem to be any closer to solving this particular case that has hit a little too close to home. Fortunately, they had all served in the Corps. That kind of training and dedication meant none of them considered quitting before the mission was done.

Camryn Novak had spent most of her childhood, and a large part of her adult life, dealing with her overprotective brother. So when an admirer becomes a little too obsessed with her due to her high-profile career, she decides it would be simpler to reach out to someone a little less emotionally invested.

Sawyer never expected to bump into the sister of one of his teammates while traveling on assignment. Women like her were off limits—one shouldn’t mix business with pleasure. One burning touch was all it took to make his good intentions go up in flames. Unfortunately, it won’t just be her brother’s wrath he’s forced to face when an unknown perp targets Camryn—it might very well be the same psychopath they’ve been hunting all along.

Casual Impressions is the fourth book in Kennedy Layne's The Safeguard Series.  This was the first one I've read in this series and I have to be honest, it didn't make me really interested in reading more.  I don't know if I would of enjoyed this book more if I had read them in order or not.  But I found these characters to be rather cold and not memorable.

And the fact that I found these characters to be so... lacking and non-memorable is the reason why this review is so short.  I honestly don't remember much.  =/

Honor by Kennedy Layne

Book Description

A high school reunion is about to get down and dirty and a whole lot more complicated in this new romantic suspense from USA Today Bestselling Author Kennedy Layne.

Derek Spencer hadn't even bothered to RSVP to his Catfish Creek's high school reunion. He'd been too busy fighting a war in Afghanistan in his capacity as a Marine and wouldn't even be in the States during the event. Unfortunately, one emergency phone call from his mother changed everything.

Tessa Daniels had been voted most likely to do everything back in high school. She somehow didn't think that included acquiring her very own stalker at the relatively young age of twenty-eight. It had stopped being simply annoying after someone broke into her house, invading her privacy. Now, she was actually in fear for her life.

Derek's mother feels terrible that her son has spent almost every waking hour at the hospital, watching over his recovering father. She sets out--and succeeds--in arranging for Derek and Tessa to attend their high school reunion together. Neither one of them expected sparks to fly or memories of long-lost crushes to emerge, but they are not only faced with their newfound passion...they must also confront the person trying to extinguish their chance to rekindle the flames of past desires.

AVALABLE: June 27, 2017

Honor by Kennedy Layne is part of Bad Boy Homecoming series.  It is 5 different authors that focus on 10 different people (5 *couples*) that all come together for their 10 year high school reunion.

One thing that I think is starting to get overused in books is the term "Bad Boy".  To me, Derek didn't fit into that category.  That being said, I still liked this quick read.  The description of this book is pretty much the story, so I won't add more to ruin any twists this book has!!

If you are looking for a quick read, and like the sound of this book, then I recommend picking up Honor!

Game of Chance by Erika Wilde

Book Description

A former Marine and Las Vegas vice cop, Nathan Fox has seen it all and then some. Heading up security for the Onyx Casino is tame compared to his dark past, but it's not his only job. Working for the Reliance Group is his real passion project. His current case: a missing woman. His mission: to find her. Easy enough, until he finds himself tangled up with sexy Nicole Hutton, a stubborn—and stunning—journalist who's nosed her way into his investigation . . . and into his dirty, erotic fantasies.

Resisting Nicole is impossible, and he soon discovers that in this dangerous high stakes game of chance, falling in love is the greatest risk of all.

Originally published as INTO THE NIGHT by Janelle Denison, March 2011

AVAILABLE: June 8, 2017

Game of Chance is a sexy, fast-paced, romantic suspense that has everything you could want.  A hero and heroine that are both strong, independent, and determined to make a difference in the world, that find each other in Sin City as they are thrown into a world of sex, prostitution, and human-trafficking.

Nathan Fox is a former Marine and Las Vegas vice cop working at the Onyx Casino as the Head of Security.  But that isn't his only job.  He is also part of the Reliance Group.  The Reliance Group is a very discreet and covert group that took assignments that other agencies refused to take.  But Nathan's next job hits a little close to home: looking for a 16 year old runaway that also gained the attention of an prominent older man.  But before he goes undercover to find the runaway teen, Nathan goes to a speed dating event as a favor for a friend. Just as Nathan is thinking his night can't be any worse, he sees Nicole Hutton.

Nicole is at the speed dating event to write an article for her paper.  Nicole is growing restless with these "puff" pieces her editor keeps giving her.  She wants to write about things that matter.  After coming across Nate's TRG information, she decides to do a little undercover work herself into the missing teen.

And when Nate discovers that the man they are after has set his sights on Nicole, he will do anything to protect the woman that has wormed his way into the one place he didn't think would happen again: His heart.

I do want to mention that Game of Chance is a RE-RELEASE of Into The Night by Janelle Denison.

All of You by Callie Harper

Book Description

Night after night, Jax pictures her coming to him. In his dreams, Sky appears in the darkness, ready and wanting. But the night that finally happens, he finds out they’re in the middle of a nightmare.

Sky has nowhere to turn. Only one man can keep her safe, but he’s the most dangerous of them all. Her only choice is to put herself in Jax’s hands. Even if it destroys them both.

Note: “All of You” is a standalone hot contemporary romance. It’s one of four “All In” novels, which can be read in any order, with some crossover characters

AVAILABLE: May 24, 2017

All of You is the third book in Callie Harper's All In series.  Each book focuses on a different couple with some character crossover from other books (and future books).  All of You focuses on Jax and Sky and their journey to finding their happily-ever-after.

Sky works at an assisted living facility where Jax's grandfather is.  She is insanely attracted to Jax.  But there is a (BIG) problem...  Sky is married.  Even though her husband is a psychotic loser, Sky isn't one to cheat.  Her husband, Mike, has gotten increasingly violent towards her, and she is binding her time, stashing away money so she can leave him.  She knows it would be dangerous for herself and Jax if Mike ever found out about their mutual attraction.

Jax, along with a business partner, own a bar that attracts a lot of the MC crowd, where he sees Mike all the time with woman that are not his wife.  Jax doesn't understand how Mike could want any other woman when he has Sky as his wife.  Jax wants Sky but he respects the fact that Sky won't cross that line from friend to more while she is married.  He doesn't like it, but he respects her wishes.

It isn't until Mike finds out about their friendship/relationship that Sky asks Jax for help.  And from this point on, Jax and Sky's relationship really develop as they fight for what they want: each other.

While I really enjoyed the story, I felt there were times when the story seemed to drag a bit and I hard a hard time following the jumps in time.  A few times I had to go back and reread a few pages to figure out when/how far in time the jump in time was.

Real Dirty Duet
Real Dirty (Book 1) *Review HERE
Real Sexy (Book 2)

If you haven't read Real Dirty, you need to STOP and go read it before reading Real Sexy!!!!

Real Sexy is the conclusion of Boone and Ripley's story.  It has everything I have come to expect in a Meghan March story: steamy moments, heart-felt moments, surprising moments, and REAL moments.  And you get a peak at several characters from Meghan's previous stories.

Real Sexy picks up right where Real Dirty left off.  Boone has been taken in to the police station and is trying to figure out just what the hell is going on.  Which also leaves Ripley questioning everything she felt about Boone and what she thought their relationship is or could of been.  The tabloids (and the return of an ex) leave the usually confident Ripley feeling insecure about herself and determined to figure out what SHE wants out of life.

However, Boone has other ideas.  He knows what he wants: Ripley.  And he sets out to prove it to her.  Boone shows us a side of him that we didn't get the full effect of in Real Dirty.  It was amazing to read about a MAN that knew what he wanted and wasn't scared to express his feelings for a woman.

In my review of Real Dirty, I said that I think Boone and Ripley might be my favorite Meghan March couple... I think it is a tie between Boone/Ripley (Real Dirty Duet) and Logan/Banner (Real Good Duet).  Can't recommend this Duet and author enough!!

Real Dirty Duet
Real Dirty (Book 1)
Real Sexy (Book 2) *Available May 23, 2017

I think Boone and Ripley might be by favorite couple searching for their happily-ever-after stories by Meghan March so far.  (I'm saving my final verdict until I can get my little hands of Real Sexy!!)  Boone has had little parts in previous Dirty/Duets, but if you haven't read any of them, you won't be missing anything for Boone's story (Although I highly recommend going and reading them because they are all great!).

Real Dirty starts off with Boone planning to propose to his girlfriend at his concert after singing his new song, but she never shows.  Pissed and confused as to where she could be, Boone is dragged to a hole-in-the-wall bar by a friend, where he meets Ripley, the take-no-prisoners bartender.

But Ripley has ONE rule: No celebrities.

Ripley is struggling to keep her family's bar afloat.  She is fiercely independent and determined to prove to her father that she can make the bar a success again.  She is extremely loyal to the family she has left, even though they don't deserve any from her.  So Ripley doesn't have time to cater to the rich-and-famous, like musician Boone Thrasher.

There is much more to this story (and couple) than not being able to keep their hands off each other.  With an unsolved murder, family drama, the struggles of a music career, an foul-mouthed parrot, and unwanted exes, Boone and Ripley have to fight for what they want.

And I can't wait to read Real Sexy to see how it all plays out!! =]
