Book Description
Off the ice, elite defenseman Hawke Therrien enjoys his fair share of booze and good times. And why shouldn't he? He's worked his way up from the minor leagues and made himself a star. The only thing Hawke misses from that life is the pierced, tattooed free spirit who broke his heart without so much as an explanation. She's almost unrecognizable when she walks back into his life seven years later—except for the look in her eyes that feels like a punch to the gut.

Hawke is the fifth book in Sawyer Bennett's Cold Fury Hockey series. Each of these books can be read as a standalone. I've really enjoyed all of the books in the series (with the exception of Ryker that I haven't read yet!!), and while this one wasn't my favorite of the series (that one goes to Zach), I still really liked reading about Hawke and Vale's second chance at love.
Hawke hasn't seen Vale since the night she broke his heart when they were twenty years old. He doesn't understand what made her just end their four year relationship without an explanation. Now Hawke is a star in the NHL and was just traded to the defending champions, Cold Fury. Little does he know that Vale just started on the Cold Fury training staff.
Vale has grown a lot since she broke up with Hawke (breaking both of their hearts). She had a wake up call and became determined to stop the partying, drinking, and drugs and better herself (even if that meant leaving the love of her life). Vale NEEDS to be working for Cold Fury so that her father can receive the best treatment possible. She didn't know Hawke was going to be on the team when she took the job, but she is determined to keep things professional (even if old feelings come rushing back).
But Hawke wants answers as to why Vale ended their relationship with no explanation. Will they be able to confront the past and learn to trust each other again to have a REAL chance at their happily-ever-after.
If you are in the market for a sweet, sexy, short(ish), second chance sports romance, then I highly recommend Hawke (and all of the Cold Fury series). I love Sawyer Bennett's writing and look forward to the next book in the series, Max (coming soon).
