Saved by the Seal by Diana Gardin

Book Description

He saved her life. She showed him how to live it . . .
When he sees a woman drowning, Grisham Abbot immediately leaps into action. The Navy SEAL forgets his training, his past, and the explosion that forever scarred his body and his mind. He can only remember what he was born to do. But saving Greta Owen is a complication Grisham is definitelynot ready for. She’s stunning and gorgeous—like sunlight after months of darkness. Yep, Grisham is so, so screwed.
Greta knows that the smart thing to do would be to run from Grisham. He’s a wounded warrior, and his head is a big-time mess. The problem is that Greta wants to make him her mess. One kiss and she’s completely in over her head. And if this SEAL risked himself to save her, then she must find a way to bring him back to life...

Saved by the Seal is the second book in Diana Gardin's Battle Scars Series.  We met both Grisham and Greta in the first book, Last True Hero, as secondary characters, but they get their own story in Saved by the Seal!

The moment Grisham recognizes Greta as the woman drowning he is trying to save, he knows he is in trouble.  He met Greta through his friend (and her former roommate) Berkeley and lost touch over the two years he was gone with the Seals.  Grisham felt a bolt of attraction to Greta two years ago, but that was when he still thought he was going to end up with Berkeley, and when he was still whole... Grisham isn't the same man he was then.  He's scarred and still trying to cope with losing a part of his leg in an explosion.  He's at a crossroads in his life.  Trying to figure out where his life is going after he is discharged from the military at the end of the year.

But there is something about Greta that makes him want to be better a man, and that shows him can still be a whole man without the military and his leg...

Greta has had a crush on Grisham since she met him two years ago but never thought anything could come from it because of his relationship with Berkeley.  She hasn't seen him since he came home from the Middle East, injured and scarred.  A smart woman would leave Grisham alone to let him sort out his life, but Greta wants to be there for her friend and support him in new life.

When their attraction for each other can no longer be denied, Grisham is scared about dumping all his issues on Greta.  But maybe, this time, Greta can be the one that saves him.

I LOVED this book.  I thought that the writing was excellent and Diana did an amazing job with the Grisham and Greta's story.  Their relationship felt realistic and honest.  I look forward to more from the Battle Scars series.
